Metro Atlanta leads the nation in business growth and employment opportunities. from 1992-2001, the area created 684,300 new jobs, leading the country in job generation. Atlanta's popularity stems from, among many other factors, its ability to attract and retain a diverse industry and work-force, adding more than 60-70,000 newcomers annually--the largest in-migration in the country. During the last ten years, 15 of metro Atlanta's counties grew more than 35%, and three metro Atlanta counties experienced a 100% rise in their population with Forsyth (161%) and Henry (137%) ranking first and second in growth. Moreover, Atlanta is placed third in the nation among cities with the most Fortune 500 company headquarters. |
